Check those facts, yo
So, I try not to be very political in public. One because I dont think I’m educated enough on the subject to make large claims that I put out there for all to see, and two because I don’t need unnecessary attention and/or animosity coming my way. Mixing sex – or even friends – and politics really can be an unwanted mess.
However I do believe I’m justified in saying that the current election is one of the most important of our time. I know, that’s cliched and always said, but in this case, I really do think that this is true. And also, I think that for such an important election its even more important to know the facts – which are, as I and many have noticed, getting a little cloudy.
So check out Factcheck.org – its a nonpartisan website that sets the record straight on a lot of what the candidates are saying … so you can make an informed choice.
And then when you think you can make that choice, make sure you’re actually gonna do it. Vote. Really. I see no reason not to and you need to make sure you’re registered by October 6th. Barack Obama’s website actually has a really easy tool to help you register, check whether or not you are registered, and can help students know how to register in the state in which they go to school (also important, I’d say!). And that isn’t biased of me – the tool offers the option to register for either party or none at all. And speaking of which, just because you’re registered to a certain party doesn’t mean you have to vote that way in the general election.
Okay I’m done, there’s my spiel. Go vote and know what you’re voting for. I just think that’s important to get out there.
